Congrats Andrea, you figured it out (and beat Blake's correct answer by a little over an hour). Maybe you can share how you figured it out?

By the way...if you could send an email to mark (at) missio-dei.com with your address and your pick for the book you want to receive, I'll get those to you right away.

    Noooooooooo...... :)

I'd be willing to send you a breviary as a consolation prize. ;)

    woot woot!

Ok, the clues I found were:

Luke - "people" "children" "crowd" "father" - reminds me of all the people stories which Luke shares.

John - "come" "world" "believe" and "know" - seems to be the main deal with John :)

Mark - "immediately!!!" The author seems so excited! "Immediately" is all over the place in Mark. Sounds like a kid telling a story in one big run-on sentence. "And then this happened, and then this...."

Matthew - "Kingdom" and "heaven" - key words for Matthew's Jewish audience.

Thanks for the gifts - totally great. Love all the authors! I will shoot an email off to you later today. Thanks again.

I'll play. Although I'm not that familiar with the NRSV, so I'll use that for my excuse if I don't get it right.
    First-John
    Second-Matthew
    Third-Mark
    Fourth-Luke

Even though JM doesn't do things like this often, I think that using these Wordle could be a neat tool for meditating on the each Gospel writer's words. Thanks for making a game out of it.

Now that the prize has been won, do you have a link to the actual Wordle page for these?
  • markvans · 10 months ago
    Alas, I do not.
  • Shawn Coons · 10 months ago
I mixed Matthew and Luke up, but "immediately" gave Mark away and "Jews" gave John away.
  • mountainguy · 10 months ago
Nice. Next time you could do the same with Apocrypha gospels, heehehehehe.
  • BDRhodes · 10 months ago
That was awesome. Wish I'd seen this earlier! :)

    Luke, John, Matt, Mark.

p.s. you've got to have better things to do with your time than manually enter all four gospels into Wordle.

    Amen.
