mark i think this is the best idea for monetizing. it is more about mutual support between like-minded organizations, and using mutually beneficial relationships to redistribute resources where they're more needed, without being too comercial.

An idea that I'm starting to pursue.

Some of the best groups to 'host' are fairly stingy with advertising money; rightfully so, as it's often not a wise use of money that the ministry/non-profit can use actually helping people.

So the thought is this (kind of tied to destroyideas) - get a group of people to sponsor an organization's ads. For example; we sponsor a Compassion child, and everything we have seen of that ministry has been exceptional - they don't reinvent the wheel, but rather use existing ministries in the countries they work in, there are tangible successes where the children of the children who were sponsored often do not need sponsorship, and their usage of donations is marked with integrity.

So if a church or a group said "I'm going to put in $5 in a pot once a month to put Compassion up on JM", that'd be a simple and effective set up for everyone involved.

Still working out the pragmatics on bits of it, but let me know what you all think.

I think if you set up a paypal for donations and/or setup a Cause on Facebook I for one would be willing to throw in lunch money every once in a while.
