Great story, Adam. Although the question of whether or not to pick up a hitchhiker is (in my opinion) a bit over-analyzed, this was a fresh and suggestive telling. You articulate with good literary imagination the tension required for a hard decision to stand up well alongside the grace and humility of our crucified King. Your story, whether it was intended this way or not, offered me more hope than the "standard" questions and answers have been able to provide.
